Hapur is a major city and district of Uttar Pradesh. It was established in 983 CE by Raja Har Singh under the name Haripura, which subsequently became Hapur. The district is situated along the Delhi–Lucknow National Highway and is known for steel-pipe manufacturing, Papad, and plant nurseries. Under the One District One Cuisine Programme, Papad has been selected for Hapur district.

Hapur’s Papad reflects the district’s long-established tradition of preparing sun-dried foods using locally available grains and pulses. Seasoned with aromatic spices, the carefully rolled discs are dried naturally and roasted or fried before serving. Their crisp texture, savoury flavour, and traditional preparation have earned Hapur Papad a distinct place in the district’s culinary culture.
