Chandauli is known as the“Rice Bowl.” Naugarh, Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary, Rajdari Waterfall, and Devdari Waterfall are among its major attractions. Black rice, paddy production, hilly forest areas, and commercial proximity to Varanasi are the district’s distinctive features. Under the One District One Cuisine Programme, Kale Chawal, Gulab Jamun, and Lassi have been selected for Chandauli district.

The Lassi prepared in Mughalsarai, Chandauli city, Sakaldiha, and Dhanapur is known for its rich taste and freshness. Prepared from fresh curd, it is served with cream, sugar, and dry fruits. Its demand is particularly high during summer.

The Gulab Jamuns prepared in Chandauli city, Mughalsarai—Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar—Sakaldiha, and Chakia are famous for their soft texture and rich sugar syrup. Prepared using Khoa, this sweet is particularly enjoyed during wedding ceremonies, festivals, and social functions.

Known as the “Rice Bowl of Uttar Pradesh,” Chandauli began expanding Black Rice cultivation in 2018, transforming the nutrient-rich grain into a valuable regional speciality. Its naturally dark grains are used to prepare Kheer, Rice Flour, Flakes, Cookies, and other healthy snacks. Their distinctive colour, mild nutty flavour, and culinary versatility have given Chandauli’s Black Rice products growing recognition.
