Bulandshahr is a leading district in agriculture and milk production and is also renowned worldwide for its Khurja Pottery Cluster. The Narora Atomic Power Station, Uttar Pradesh’s only nuclear power plant, is situated along the banks of the Ganga River in the district. Under the One District One Cuisine Programme, Kachori, Khurchan, and Peda have been selected for Bulandshahr district.

Bulandshahr’s Kachori is known for its crisp, golden exterior and flavourful Urad Dal filling. Traditionally fried in oil or Desi Ghee, it is commonly served with spicy potato curry and refreshing Raita. Enjoyed across generations, this popular snack remains an integral part of the district’s culinary culture.

Bulandshahr’s Khurchan is a traditional milk-based sweet made by slowly cooking milk to form delicate layers of thickened malai, which are carefully collected and sweetened. Known for its soft, creamy texture and rich milky flavour, Khurchan is especially associated with Khurja and is considered a distinctive sweet of Bulandshahr. Its delicate layers and traditional preparation make it a cherished local speciality.

Bulandshahr’s Peda is known for the rich flavour of fresh Mawa or Khoa and cardamom. It is traditionally prepared by roasting Mawa in a Karahi, giving it a light-brown colour and a melt-in-the-mouth texture. More than 300 people are employed across over 100 units engaged in this industry.
